The company was founded in 1998 by Matt Bullock and was acquired by Global Payments in 2016.

eWay facilitated more than 20,000 merchants worldwide by enabling them to accept card payments and offers a range of services, including a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution. The payment processor offers merchants:
